About us

Our Story

After 30 years of working with youth organizations in both New York and Florida, Carrie Brown and her husband, Marcellus Brown, are dedicated to fostering the change they want to see in their community. Motivated by current juvenile crime statistics, the couple combined their passion for supporting youth with their business and family connections in their hometown of Lake County to create LifeSkills Prep, a Teen Development and Delinquency Prevention program.

Inspired by Theodore Roosevelt's famous quote, “To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society.” LifeSkills Prep was established to do both—educate and mentor.

Every program is designed to inspire school-aged youth to take initiative in shaping their futures. Young people are at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to connecting them and their families to impactful resources and opportunities that will lead to their success.
